Shield dispersant is a chemical additive that prevents clay clogging (mud cake formation) on the cutterhead and in the excavation chamber during tunnelling in cohesive ground. In clay, silt or mudstone, clay particles tend to consolidate under heat and pressure, causing torque spikes, TBM stalling or jamming. The dispersant modifies clay particle surface charge and hydrophilicity, preventing particle agglomeration and adhesion.

HDC FSJ series is compounded with anionic surfactants, powerful penetrating agents and stabilizers. It penetrates rapidly into clay aggregates, disperses and breaks down existing mud cake, while preventing new cake formation. Non-corrosive to equipment and environmentally safe.
